Using a Facebook Shop to sell direct to customers

A baseball swing trainer with no e-commerce site and no budget to build one. A Facebook Shop plus five ad campaigns over three months produced a measurable return.

The client

Rope Bat sells a hitting aid and swing trainer for softball and baseball players who want to perfect their swing.

Our strategy

Rope Bat did not have an integrated e-commerce website and did not have the budget to build one. We set up a Facebook Shop so Facebook became their one-stop store, then ran just five ad campaigns over three months.

The most successful was an ongoing video ad for the product, which earned over 404,000 views and reached over 735,000 people. A smaller one-month campaign reached over 60,000 users.

Results

The campaigns produced just over $2,000 in sales through the Facebook store, from 2,660 product views and over 220 clicks, with 34 purchases made directly in the shop.

Audience Insights showed roughly 80% of the reach was men aged 35 to 44, and nearly 90% of ad views were on a mobile newsfeed. Video worked because the Rope Bat is a product that needs to be seen in action.
